I hate my IT class...Or, rather, I'm indifferent about the class, I'm frustrated by my classmates.
We have to do this group project where we all research secondary disciplines and talk about them in front of the class. Well, I'm the tech guy of the group (of course) so on top of my research, I get to make the power point for the presentation as well. Normally that's no problem, but one of the girls in our group can't seem to get it through her head that she was supposed to email me the information that needed to go on her part of the slides. For some reason, she was convinced, last night, that she had to call me and either meet up with me to give me the slides or tell me everything over the phone.
I probably wouldn't have minded as much had I not been in Savannah when she decided to start ringing my phone off the hook for the next hour, completely killing my battery. By the time I made it back to my dorm I had around 20 missed calls from her, but only one voice mail that was her saying she was going to bed and that she'd try calling again in the morning. Arrrgh!
I guess it didn't occur to her that she could have still just emailed me, like everyone else did, or even told me the info in her voice mail.

Oh well, I have the rest of the slides ready and I made some quick and dirty ones for what little I was able to find about her part in the course of the night (what can I say, I don't want the group's grade to suffer just because we got stuck with an idiot). That way, if anything, we can at least BS our way through her part. Hopefully the movie I have will fill up the rest of the time that we're allotted.

For having just spent an entire week straight without sleep, and only getting a few hours of it in the last few days, I feel pretty awesome right now.

The Design Effect was truly awesome. I had a lot of fun working it, despite the long hours and somewhat disorganized setup (we just made up a lot of things as we went). I learned a few new tricks, made a few new friends, and got closer to the ones that I already had. It was good.
I've got a couple of albums of pictures from it on my Facebook, for those who haven't seen them.
Here's the pics from when we were setting up the show.
And here's the pics from the show on Sunday.

I forgot to bring my camera on Saturday, so no pics from then. You aren't missing much though. Just crowds.

This week has been an odd one in that everything seemed to revolve around a certain friend of mine for a while there. Not really sure where things are going with her at the moment, but we'll see, I suppose. And, no, it's not Saleah. She and I are just friends right now. This could either be kind of cool or things may be awkward for a while.

Other than that, I keep moving forward. There's not much that can stop me...

The bottles are Fuze green tea with honey bottles. I painted the caps with model paint so they wouldn't be out of place.
The liquid is Vault and the new Cherry Vault, respectively.

The box was made with Illustration board, bristol board, an entire roll of chrome duct tape, wood glue, and transparency paper on the window.
It stands 18" tall and each side is 6".

All I can say is that I had better get an "A" for this. ^_^

Down With The Sickness: The Sequel

music: Nirvana - [From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah #11] Heart-Shaped Box

Alright...Does this make sense to anyone?

Josh is visiting for the week and he gets a stomach virus. The next day, Chris gets it and is still sick. Shelley and Jason are wanting to drive down from Atlanta to visit tomorrow and I told them not to because I don't want them getting sick too. So she gets mad at me. Then I tell Mom and she gets irritated with me.

Where's the logic in this? Sorry if I don't want my little sister and her boyfriend to projectile vomit.

Never mind that I'm up to my neck in work again this week and I wouldn't really have time to spend with them anyway. Josh is visiting and he's had to spend most of his time just watching TV while Chris is sick and I'm working.

I went home and it was good...

I finally got to go home this weekend. It was fun, all in all.

Friday was a mix of good times and extreme annoyance. Got a much needed hair cut. Got a much needed oil change. Picked up some roses for later on. Got to hang out with friends that I haven't seen since before Christmas. And I fixed Shelley's computer.
At the same time, I had to go to Wal*Mart during the daylight hours, which never bodes well for me. The urge to beat someone with the bouquet of roses that I was buying was overwhelming. Yes, apparently, I dislike being in crowded stores that much. Dinner was equally annoying. Originally, Mom was going to cook something. Awesome. That meant that dinner would be done quickly and I would be able to go see Saleah. Especially since I wanted to actually be able to spend some time with her before her mom kicked me out for the night. Well, suddenly the plans get changed. Now we're going out to eat. Ok, no problem. It's still early in the evening. I can deal with that. Except that Danny was on call and had to go to work for a little while. So we had to wait for him. He finally gets home, showers, and we leave. The resteraunt is about as crowded as the Wal*Mart was. So I was already on edge. But then the food takes forever. We finally eat and finish around 8:00. That would have given me a good two hours with Saleah since her mom told me that 10:00 is my deadline. So I think we're ready to go. Then both Danny and Shelley decide to order dessert. WTF, mate? They never order dessert! And since I didn't bring my car, I couldn't just leave.

I swear that there's some cosmic rule that states that if I make plans for anything and I'm at home, I don't know who, but somebody will always do something that somehow manages to slow me down or stop me altogether.

Well, I finally make it over to Saleah's. That was easily the high point of the weekend. Nothing quite like getting to see somebody that you love so much after being away for a while.
I'm also thankful that her mom actually let me come over, since she's still grounded and none of her other friends are even allowed to talk to her on the phone right now, much less visit.
I kind of wonder what I did that makes me an exception, but oh well. I'm not going to question it. I'm just happy that I got to see her. It made the long drive home worth it entirely. And the look on her face when I gave her the Ring Pops that I had been hoarding (around 35 of them) was priceless.

The rest of the weekend had it's ups and downs, but Friday night was easily the high point.

Oh yeah...I can also proudly say that I'm the reason that the Wal*Mart in Statesboro started selling Ring Pops. I spoke to one of my friends that works there and the manager actually special ordered their shipment of them because Walgreens and all of the gas stations kept selling out of them. :P

Holiday on hold...

So I've got a fairly large stockpile of Ring Pops in my room still...
I was going to try to do something spiffy and creative with them before giving them to Saleah this weekend, but as a wise man once told me "We can't have nice things..."
Basically, Saleah got in hot water with her mom over something and now she's essentially grounded until the end of the month. No phone, no computer, no going anywhere but school. Sadly, this puts a bit of a damper on the plans that we had made for this weekend.

So now I'm staying here this weekend and I'll be hitting LaGrange next weekend for my Mom's birthday. Saleah will probably still be grounded at the time, but I might see if I can't persuade her mom to make an exception for an evening so I can take her out to dinner or something.
I guess that if she won't then Valentine's Day is just kind of on hold until she's free again.
Sucks, but there's not much that can be done, I suppose.

In the meantime, happy Valentine's Day to everyone else...

There is such a thing as too many fonts.

I just added a ton of new fonts to my collection (I mean 11,000 or so) and now Illustrator crashes while loading the interface.
That's special.

---------------------------------

Update:

Fixed it! Font managers are wonderful tools. It's going to take forever to split all of those fonts into collections that I can load and unload on the fly, but at least I didn't have much planned for the weekend. :P

It seems that the combination of the craptastic weather that we had yesterday and several of my classmates being sick has caused me to catch whatever cold has been going around lately.

Ugh...I feel like crap. I think I'm going to go watch anime and be sick now.

On an unrelated note, it was nice to see that one of my roommates cleaned the living room while I was in a NyQuil induced coma.

I finally got my new glasses today! Hooray! No more faux glow on everything from all of the tiny scratches on my old ones!
I'm still trying to get used to them though.
